Say It!-I love You

image

Often time we assume that the people who are close to us should automatically know how we feel about them. Often men are categorized as not being good at expressing themselves as if connects to their feelings. Some of most amazing people and me I know don’t have a problem with that at all. Saying I love you when it’s least expected can calm so many things in a persons life. Saying I love you when the person is acting in such a way, that it seems something else should be said-this too can make a difference.

The power of love is evident when we look at how it changed our lives, once we were introduced to the love of God. Even thoes who are good at showing their love still should aim to use the words. Today people are so wrapped in thinking that they need to be in a relationship to feel loved. I decided to make love cards and scrolls for the people I knew who wasn’t in a relationship. I wanted to remind them that they’re loved and someone is thinking about them today. That type of consideration for another person comes from God. And because He loves them so much he placed them on someone else’s heart- to say I love you.

Prayer: God I thank you for another day that you have allowed us to see, we know that some didn’t make it but you allowed us to. We thank you. Lord thank you for your love and forgiveness. Thank you for loving us even in our unlovable times. Thank you for showing us through the sacrifice of your only son. God I come to you right now in the name of Jesus, asking that you mend the broken hearted today. God I ask that the lonely is visited, the hurting is compforted, the mistreated is appreciated, the depressed is lifted. Touch us and help us to touch someone else through your love. God we thank you that when relationships fade, friends and family let us down, kids dissapoint, choloates are gone and others expressions of love deminishes- your love is there. Whenever we need to hear we are loved we can hear you say, Beloved( just be loved of God)!

Rekindled Romance-Romantic Gestures

image

3 Your breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle. 4 Your neck is like an ivory tower. Your eyes are the pools of Heshbon by the gate of Bath Rabbim. Your nose is like the tower of Lebanonlooking toward Damascus. 5 Your head crowns you like Mount Carmel. Your hair is like royal tapestry; the king is held captive by its tresses. 6 How beautiful you are and how pleasing, O love, with your delights! 7 Your stature is like that of the palm, and your breasts like clusters of fruit. 8 I said, “I will climb the palm tree; I will take hold of its fruit.” May your breasts be like the clusters of the vine, the fragrance of your breath like apples.9 and your mouth like the best wine. May the wine go straight to my lover, flowing gently over lips and teeth. 10 I belong to my lover, and his desire is for me. 11 Come, my lover, let us go to the countryside, let us spend the night in the villages. 12 Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom— there I will give you my love. 13 The mandrakes send out their fragrance, and at our door is every delicacy, both new and old, that I have stored up for you, my lover. (Song of Solomon 7:9-13)

Can you believe that this is scripture? Sounds like a sexy novel.  Keeping in mind that our marriages shouldn’t be sexless, our passion and romance for our spouses shouldn’t be non existent. After being married for a few years it is easy to forget about the romantic gestures that came so natural in the time prior. It is easy to take the one you married and love for granted. When you add jobs, kids and life in the mix sometimes couples put their love lives on hold. Although it’s easy to let the flame go out in our marriages we have to be intentional about rekindling the romance. Of course we shouldn’t only express our love during the month of February alone. But if you have noticed that the fire behind your romance has fizzled in your marriage, here are a few things that Could help us rekindle the romance in our marriages.

Let’s Share Some Love!!

ngIt’s  that time of the year and love is in the air. The “love bugs” or out and on the hunt to share some L-O-V-E.   I’ve rounded up a few simple and inexpensive ways for you to spread a little love to just about anyone rather it be your spouse, best friend, child, or grandparent these gifts of love will do the job. So check out my wonderful finds.  I’m sure you’ll want to use a couple if not all of these awesome ideas as part of your love spread;=)

  1. jarLove In A Jar – This first idea can be made and given to anyone. To make this “Love Gift” simply purchase or locate an empty jar or box ( a clear jar works nicely as it shows the beautiful contents).  Fill the jar with candy or your receiver’s favorite treats (valentine candy, homemade cookies etc.) Handwrite or type several small notes for the recipient to add to the jar. Examples of notes are: “I’m so glad God blessed us to be friends.”  “You are still the apple of my eye.”  “This note is good for a wonderful back rub.” Whatever it is that you want to express or do for this person write it and then role each note and tie it with a ribbon.  Try using strips of paper, sticky notes or cut out hearts in shades of red, pink and also white.  Do the same for the ribbon just to add to the theme.
  2. Hide and Show Some Respect – For this fun and “Love Seek” you will need only index cards and loads of respect.  Fill in the number of cards that it will take to reach Valentine’s Day,  if you start this idea on tomorrow then you will need eleven index cards.  Write on each index card something you respect about your husband or love about your wife.  Hide one per day in a place your spouse is sure to find it.  They will be so excited they’ll be looking forward to the next one each day.  On day 14 the last index card should have a special surprise for your spouse that you can add to your other valentine plans.
  3. The Little Sweeties – If you have a couple of little sweethearts in your life a simple idea would be to make “Treatie For My Sweetie” Make rice krispy treats and cut-out hearts using a cookie cutter or if your creative shape them into hearts yourself before they set. ( You can even find instructions to make rice krispy treats on the back of the rice krispy cereal box). Place the rice krispy shaped hearts into cellophane wraps or small decorative bags and tie with string. Add a  handmade card stamped with love and a page of cute stickers for an even bigger treat!
  1. heartsFrame It – This is a beautiful gift to show your love and have it treasured forever.  All you need is artificial flower petals or  you can opt to use  varied size hearts cut from colored construction paper of your choice. Depending on the frame size locate pre-designed paper as your background or you can hand write the background on blank paper as a love letter if you want.  Next make an outline of the heart on top of the paper in the center whatever size you want making sure to leave adequate space for your background to show.  fill the heart with the petals or cut-outs (using glue) whichever you are using making sure to keep with the heart pattern.  Leave your signature in the lower right corner and the date, place it in a frame and you’ll have a lovely keepsake to share with the one you love.

These are some creative ideas just to get you going on this wonderful month of love and hopefully anytime throughout the year.

How will you be spreading love on Valentine’s Day 2014? Come on, share some sweet ideas;=)

Oh Honey Please!

I was speaking with an older lady about her doctors visit. She said that the doctor actually recommended that she began to use a great significant amount of honey. I thought that was interesting seeing that this wasn’t going to cause for her to take a prescription.  Now she actually does have to take prescribed medications for other things. We forget about the natural remedies that comes from the nature that God created in nature.

image

I remember growing up and having stomach aches and colds and being given things by my grandmother that didn’t require going to the hospital. Now I’m not speaking against medicine. I’m simply saying that we should remember that there are natural solutions to some things just as God intended. Have you ever used any home remedy before? If you take a few moments to think about what you have in your kitchen cabinets and refrigerators, you could easily make a list of super healing foods that can become ready remedies for combating common ailments — headaches, cuts and bruises, burns, acne and pimples, heartburn, dizziness, nausea, constipation, dry skin, diarrhea, weight gain, sleeplessness, dullness, anxiety, indigestion, coughs, sore throat, and even athletes foot. These foods usually don’t burn a big hole in your pocket, neither do they taste too awful like some antibiotics. I remember hearing people say the worst the medicine taste that means its working. Not sure if that’s true.

DIY folk remedies that you can easily prepare and mix yourself at home are some of the most natural medicines! As more people become wary of the effects of chemically produced drugs and health products from the store, natural home remedies also become more popular. I know I personally am always concerned with side effects to any and every form of medication. Though these natural alternative medicines are never intended as a substitute for professional medical care, their powerful healing attributes have long been used thousands of years ago since biblical times and proven to safely cure diseases and correct health disorders for generations after generations.

Honey Facial Mask Recipe for Dry, Flaky Skin

Ingredients:
1 raw egg
1 tablespoon honey

Directions:
Mix together egg and honey. Spread onto your face and neck and let sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse well with tepid water.

Honey Facial Mask Recipe for Acne

Simply apply a scoop of honey to clean skin and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

To use honey as a spot treatment on pimples you picked at, put a drop of honey on your finger and gently pat it onto the infected area before bed. Cover overnight with a bandage. The honey will keep your skin and the oozing area sterile by fighting off bacteria. And as a bonus it will accelerate the healing process.

How to Make Your Own Sugar Scrubs

image

Wouldn’t it be great to give your skin a little love? How about making your own sugar scrub? You can also make small jars as gifts for friends. A sugar scrub makes your skin feel nice (Sugar has natural relaxing and soothing properties, and it also helps circulation and exfoliates your skin.), but purchasing sugar scrubs can become expensive. Luckily there is an easy way to make a sugar scrub at home, and all you need is a few household products which can make a sugar scrub that will give you great results like a store bought one (but without the price)!

  1. 1 image
Pick a jar for your sugar scrub. Almost any jar would be fine. You can get one that locks or one that has a screw on lid. If you are a clumsy person like I am at times, use a plastic jar instead of glass, because this scrub will be put near the shower or bath tub, if you so desire. Plastic has its disadvantages too. A plastic jar will absorb any essential oils you add into the scrub, and that means that you can never use the jar in any other purpose. Make sure whatever jar you are using is clean. A plastic ziplock container will work well too. Even a little sandwich bag works.

  2. image
Gather your ingredients and select your sugar. Sugar scrubs have a few benefits over salt scrubs but salt scrubs can be used as well. I try to keep a balance between the two. Sugar granules are smaller and gentler. Preventing small tears in the skin. Sugars natural humectants properties are more hydrating. While overuse of salt scrubs can strip the skin of its natural oils sugar scrubs are more hydrating. Brown sugar is softer than granulated sugar so you can use it on your face and for sensitive skin. Raw sugar is naturally coarse and suggested only for the body.

  3. Pick an oil and (or) spice. Any kind will do, but a few skin nutritive oils are almond oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, peanut oil, rosehip oil, sesame oil, macadamia nut oil, sunflower oil and olive oil. However, you shouldn’t have to go to the grocery store right now to buy these oils if you don’t have them.Even cheap canola oil, which is not fancy, works well too! But one oil you should avoid is baby oil, which contains mineral oil (a by-product of petroleum) because it doesn’t absorb into skin and when it evaporates, this oil makes your skin feel even dryer than before. Also baby/mineral oil clogs your pores. Spices like ginger, citrus, grapefruit and orange are my favs.
  4.  Fill the jar with oil until it is almost full.
  5. Mix your oil and sugar together with a spoon.
Add a few drops of essential oils (SPICES)into the mixture. Choose a scent that you like. Some great ones are lavender (relaxing), peppermint (energizing), orange, lime/lemon, sandalwood, and vanilla. Or you can try extracts, like vanilla, almond, peppermint and coconut. Stir the salt scrub after you add the essential oil. If your anything like me I like color…. So add a few drops of food coloring to spruce things up a bit.

  6. Enjoy your homemade sugar scrub.Use your sugar scrub or decorate the jar with a ribbon and give it to a friend. Sugar scrubs are great to use in the winter. Now because it exfoliates the top layer of skin, it is important to follow up with sunscreen if going out during daylight hours. Hope you have some sweet results

Draw The Lines!!!! DIY

image

image

Tools you will need:

1. Measuring Tape

2. Pencil with an eraser

3.Paint Choices

4.Tape for painting

5. Tarp for protecting the floor

6. Painting tools.. Cans, rollers and brushes.

Step By Step Instructions

1. Decide how big you want the lines on your surface.

2.Begin taping off all corners and baseboard to prevent paint disasters.

3. Lay down tarp and secure it with something of weight to prevent paint from spilling on floor or surrounding areas.

4. If you have chosen to do two different colors, the easy way is to paint your entire surface one color. Allow it to dry over night.

5. Measure the desired width of your lines and mark with a pencil.

6.Mark a star in the middle of ever other surface area that has your initial measurement. This will determine where you will paint.

7. Now using your painting tape, create the lines on both sides of your star. This will contain the paint keeping it from seeping out of the lines. Make sure the tape is pressed flush or close against the surface. Any air bubbles will cause seepage.

8. I suggest painting line by line. I’m not a professional painter, but I noticed that you can run into complications if you allow the paint to completely dry and then remove the tape. So I suggest allowing it to dry for about 15 mins then slowly remove the strip of tape pulling away from the painted area. Now the 15 mins may vary depending on cool or warm temperature. You want the area to be slightly dry but not completely.

9. If the painted area needed a second coat of paint. Don’t remove the tape until you have applied the second coat if needed.

10. If there are any areas to clean up.. You can use the tape and place it on the opposite side and continue just as you did to make the lines.

11. Enjoy your hard work!!! Good job!

Detox Anyone?

image

It’s Fridayyyyyy!!!! As if you didn’t already know that huh;=) If by chance you’ve decided you’re staying in this evening nicely sheltered from the cold how about trying this detox I ran across on Terry Quinn’s facebook page.  By the way she has lots more great DIY’s in case you’re interested at www.facebook.com/terryquinn210

The first thing you need to know though, is that you should allow at least 45 minutes to yourself for this, because the first half of the time is to detox and the second half is to soak-in. The longer, the better.

You can make your own mixture with other ingredients, but the basic ingredients are as follows:

-2 cups of Epsom salt (and add in another cup for every 50 pounds you are over 100 pounds)
-2 cups of baking soda
-1/3 cup of ground ginger
-Your choice of mint, herbs, or essential oils

image

Add all of those things (or your favorite optional ingredients) into a hot bath as it is running, and swish it around until it is as dissolved as possible. Jump in and enjoy. Be warned though…you WILL sweat, and quickly. The more ginger you use, the more you will sweat. Soak for at least 45 minutes, hop out and into a fluffy towel, and then spend the next fifteen minutes trying to remember your first name. Ahhhhh…sounds great doesn’t it? I can’t wait to try it myself; =)

Frame It! DIY

image

I took an an old wire frame that a friend of mine gave me. I painted The frame and stuck a flower in it. This was a fun, quick and free DIY.

Knit A Bit

I attended a knitting class with my sister-in-law. I was so excited to learn something new. It took a little time and effort but I was able to  figure out a basic knit stitch. Knitting has been something that I wanted to learn for some time now.  There are other things that I want to learn as well. When attempting something new, keep in mind that you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. You may not be great at whatever it is, but you have the strength and ability to do things that you may never know unless you try.
